Consumer Unit (CU)

Also known as Fuse Box.

A box of fuses or MCB's that are normally arranged in a single row. A consumer unit will normally be located near to where the main electricity supply enters the home, usually on the consumer side of the meter. The CU normally contains the main double pole switch and the fuses, circuit-breakers, or residual current operated trip devices.
