Fuse

A crude overcurrent protective device that destroys itself and breaks the circuit if the current exceeds the rating of the fuse. Once the fuse is destroyed (blown), it needs to be replaced - unlike Circuit Breakers. Modern fuses are normally in sealed cartridges, which need to be replaced.
