Joule's Law

Defines the relationship between current in a wire and the thermal energy produced.

In 1841, English physicist James Joule showed that W = I2 x R x t, where W is the energy produced in Joules, I is the current in the wire in amperes, R is the resistance of the wire in Ohms and t is the length of time that the current flows in seconds.
